Welcome to the Department of International and European Studies of the University of Piraeus.
Our Department, the University's newest, is now the most selective among similar departments in Greece. Our undergraduate program of studies is based on clusters of courses based on three academic disciplines: International Relations, International Political Economy and International Law.
We also offer four graduate MA programs in International and European Studies, Energy Strategy, Law and Economics, BRICS and International and European Policies on Education, Training and Research. The language of instruction is Greek, however, we plan in the immediate future to start at least one MA program that will be entirely taught in English.
The Department of International and European Studies has also launched nine research laboratories that are open to outside faculty members and encourage the participation of our undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate students. The Department's laboratories are: Laboratory of Negotiation & Mediation, Laboratory of Education Policy, Research Development, Laboratory of International & European Development Policies and Programmes, Laboratory for the study of BRICS, Laboratory of International & European Policy, Turkish and Eurasian Studies Laboratory, Laboratory of Eastern Mediterranean, Middle and Major East: Economy - Politics –Civilization, Laboratory of Strategic Communication and Mass Media, Laboratory of Intellingence and Cybersecurity.
The Department has established a Rhetoric Society and a Film Society, is a participant and strong supporter of the Erasmus program, regularly hosts ambassadors, decision-makers and renowned academics and actively pursues an internship program for our undergraduate students.
We also place particular importance in co-organizing conferences outside Greece. In the past few years we have collaborated with New York University, Johns Hopkins University, Bar Ilan University and Jawaharlal Nehru University for conferences that took place in New York, Washington DC, Tel Aviv and New Delhi. Our current emphasis is on pursuing collaborative ventures and agreements with international academic institutions.
