    Konstantina E. Botsiou graduated with honors from the Department of History and Archaeology at the University of Athens and holds a PhD from the University of Tübingen (magna cum laude). She is Professor of History and international Relations at the Department of International and European Relations of the University of Piraeus and Director of the Council for International Relations-Greece. She was previously Associate Professor and Director of the Centre for Greek and International History (KEDIS) at the Department of Political Science and International Relations of the University of the Peloponnese (Corinth), where she also served as Vice Rector for Economics, Education and Quality Assurance (2012-15). Since 2016 she is Visiting Professor at the Hellenic National Defense College (HNDC) and Director of the Council for International Relations-Greece.

    Between 2000 and 2008 she taught at the Department of Political Science and Public Administration of the University of Athens as Adjunct Lecturer and Lecturer in Modern Greek and European History and International Relations, teaching also in three out of four postgraduate programs of the Department. Among others, she was instructor and coordinator of the course “Southeast European History and Culture, 19th-20th centuries” in the English-speaking “MA in Southeast European Studies” of the University of Athens.

    She has led over fifteen research projects and has been a principal investigator in more than twelve. Among others she has been a research fellow at the Jean Monnet European Center of Excellence of the University of Athens (2006-2008), the Hellenic National Audiovisual Archive (2007-2009), the LSE IDEAS think tank (2013-2015) and the Bank of Greece (2019-). Between 2001 and 2018 she was also Director of Publications, General Director and Vice President at the Konstantinos Karamanlis Institute for Democracy. She was chief editor of the quarterly journal Liberal Emphasis (2001-11) and the international publication series Yearbook and European and International Affairs in cooperation with Springer Publishers.

    She was a member of the academic council at the Martin‘s Centre for European Studies, the Hellenic Parliament Foundation for Parliamentarism and Democracy and the Political Academy of the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs and a member of the Board of Directors at the National Library of Greece. She has received grants and scholarships from Greek and international organizations, such as the Erasmus Program, the ECTS Network, the European Teachers Association, the LSE IDEAS, the US International Visitors Leadership Program (IVLP), the US Embassy in Greece, the DAAD, the Konstantinos G. Karamanlis Foundation, the A. Andreadis Fund, a.o. She has participated in several TV history documentaries in Greece and abroad and is an op-ed columnist in journals and newspapers. Since 2017 she ist he Director of the publication series “Contemporary and World History“ at Papadopoulos Publishers.

    Her publications focus on modern and contemporary history, European integration, the Cold War, Balkan history, Euro-Atlantic relations, political parties, defense and foreign policy. She has authored and edited over 15 books and over 120 academic articles and book chapters.

Είναι απόφοιτος του Τμήματος Πολιτικής Επιστήμης και Δημόσιας Διοίκησης της Νομικής Σχολής του Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών και κάτοχος μεταπτυχιακού από το Παν/μιο Paris II (Pantheon-Sorbonne) στις Διεθνείς Σπουδές και διδακτορικού στις Διεθνείς Σχέσεις από το Πάντειο Παν/μιο.
