     Nikos Kotzias, C4 Professor of Political Theories of International and European Studies in the University of Piraeus, studied Economic Theory (Diploma), Politics and Philosophy (MA), Law and Politics of European Integration (PhD and Post-doc) in Greece and Germany (Giessen). He has worked as researcher and taught in the Universities of Harvard, Oxford and Marburg. Member of the FEG and Gast professor in Marburg, Germany, Senior Associated Member in St. Antony’s College (University of Oxford), and Senior Fellow in the Weatherhead Centre for International Affairs (Harvard University). He was convicted twice during the period of Fascism-Junta in Greece for his fighting for democracy.

    Since 1993, he was appointed as an Expert-Diplomat, after 2005 as Ambassador, in the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in this capacity he participated and presided over a series of research, coordination and strategic analysis Groups up to the summer of 2008. He was member of the first National Foreign Affairs Council He participated in the Greek-Turkish negotiations, the negotiations leading to the signing of the Treaty of Amsterdam, the Agenda 2000 and the modulation of the European Constitution. He has taken part in over 200 Meetings of the General Affairs Council of the EU and has participated in several internationally well-known research groups such as «The International Group of Experts: Making it our Own. A Trans-European proposal on amending the Draft Constitutional Treaty for the European Union».

    He was member of the Board of social-since periodicals as «Dialektiki» and «Epistimoniki Skepsi» and director of the Book series «Logos» (Discourse), Livanis Publications and «Anastohasmos» (Nachdenken – rethinking), Kastaniotis Publications. He public more than 300 science Articles and 4.000 newspapers Articles. He is the writer of twenty-six scientific books that have been published in many countries abroad and of one Poetry Collection. He is the editor and prefaced more than sixty books in Greece from international well-known scientist, including the works of J. Habermas, A.Sen, F. Deppe, N. Chomsky, M. Walzer, D. Harvey, M. Ignatieff, B. Barber, P. Krugman.

    His published books in the last ten Years are: «Globalization. The historical place and the future» (Athens, Kastaniotis Publications, 2003). «The active democratically State. Nation State and Globalization» (Athens, Kastaniotis Publications, 2004). Co-writer with P. Liacouras (Eds.), «EU-US Relations. Repairing the Transatlantic Rift (Basingstoke-New York, Palgrave, 2006). Political System and Identity. Globalization: The Case of Great Britain (Athens, Kastaniotis Publications, 2008), Greece Foreign Policy for the 21st Century. For a new, active, democratic strategy in the era of Globalisation. (Athens Kastaniotis Publications, 2010). The Rescue politics against Troika and the democratically Greece (Athens, Livanis Publications 2012). «Greece, a Debt Colony – European Empire and Germans primacy» (Athens Patakis Publications 2013). His most recently published scientific articles are: Cyprus. Thinking outside the box-The framework for a solution, Oxford. Globalization, Religion and Violence, Geneva and Boston: Global Council of the Churches. The Paradox of the Turkish-European Relations, Oxford.

    At the time being, he is teaching the university courses on Social Development and Foreign Relations of China and Russia, Special issues on Greek Foreign Relations and Policy, as well courses dealing with the Typology of political systems.
